Orientation DMS- Project 1

Description

To briefly explain this project, we were assigned to wader out into Elephant and Castle to discreetly record any conversation we stumble upon, rather it be at Sainsbury or another local shop. With this recording, we must take it and essentially change it into something else. Our group, (Lynn, Sunny, and I) set out and got a decent recording at a store inside of the shopping centre. In said recording, it consists of two men bargaining for an unknown object. The recording is vague and the context of what they are talking about is unknown, so with this, we took creative justice and starting thinking of outrageous ideas that can apply.

Research

With this, we decided to make a comic strip of the two men, taking inspiration from David Shringley, an illustrator with a distinct, humorous style (seen in figure below) We began to draft illustrations (Lin handling this part mostly) until class ended. The first two images below show the area where the recording was taken, to give reference to what we were hearing. Below is the progress of what we have so far, along with an example of David Shringley’s work.
